Mustafiz Rahman

Mustafizur Rahman is an Assistant Decarbonization Analyst at Lorax, where he supports building energy audits, decarbonization studies, and energy efficiency projects. Mustafiz performs utility and weather-normalized energy analysis, evaluates HVAC and MEP systems, reviews mechanical drawings and equipment performance, and develops energy conservation measures (ECMs) through engineering calculations, energy modeling, life-cycle cost analysis, and savings verification. His work focuses on practical strategies for reducing building energy consumption, operating costs, and greenhouse gas emissions. Mustafiz earned his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University, where his graduate research focused on energy consumption and operational performance of the WVU Personal Rapid Transit system. He also worked with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Industrial Training and Assessment Center (ITAC), conducting industrial energy assessments and evaluating opportunities involving HVAC systems, motors, compressed air, process equipment, controls, and other energy-intensive systems. With a foundation in mechanical engineering, energy systems, and applied research, Mustafiz is particularly interested in building decarbonization, HVAC optimization, energy modeling, electrification, and high-performance building systems. He enjoys applying engineering fundamentals and data-driven analysis to translate complex building performance challenges into technically and economically feasible solutions. Outside of engineering, Mustafiz enjoys traveling and exploring new places. He is also an avid European football fan and a devoted Real Madrid supporter, rarely missing an opportunity to follow the club.
