Michael Newman

Mike joined Lorax in 2024 as a Project Manager with experience managing a variety of rating systems including ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction, National Green Building Standards, and Enterprise Green Communities. Before joining Lorax, Mike worked as a Project Manager for a green building consultant in Maryland for five years after working for a national RESNET rating provider to manage quality assurance, employee training, and process development for four years.

A native to the ENERGY STAR program for more than 10 years, Mike certified Suitland Senior Apartments as the third-party verifier and ENERGY STAR rater, one of the first ENERGY STAR MFNC projects in Maryland. He oversaw the design through construction and was involved in the project’s completion.

Mike provides project management for both new construction and rehabilitation projects in the mid-Atlantic region. These projects range from affordable housing developments to multifamily high-rise apartment buildings or smaller historic townhome renovations. With a passion for green building practices and affordable housing, Mike strives to work with developers and architects to find the most efficient and effective solutions. These solutions are executed with thorough project involvement along with support and training for design and construction teams.

Outside of work hours, Mike enjoys hiking with his chocolate Labrador, Tito, trying new coffee shops, and working on renovating his century-old home in Towson to be more energy efficient.
