Michael Sumpter

Michael Sumpter is a seasoned professional with 15 years of experience in the green building consulting industry. In 2024, he brought his knowledge and expertise to Lorax as a Senior Project Manager. Michael’s background spans a variety of building types from single family to large multifamily, from new construction to existing rehabs, from market rate to affordable housing. He looks forward to the challenges that every unique building can bring and looks forward to finding solutions for every range of development.

With a passion for sustainability, Michael has managed a range of projects and certifications, including NGBS, Enterprise Green Communities, ENERGY STAR, DOE Zero Energy Ready, and PHIUS+. He firmly believes that high-efficiency homes should be accessible to all, not just market-rate properties, and advocates for integrating sustainability practices into affordable housing developments to alleviate the burden of high utility bills on low-income households.

Outside of his professional commitments, Michael’s dedication extends to his family. When he is not immersed in project work, you can find him at the ice rink watching his kids learn to skate and play hockey or working on home improvement projects.
