Lorax recently completed an ASHRAE Level I energy audit and Maryland Climate Solutions Now Act (CSNA) benchmarking for the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland, studying the Aquarium’s public facilities on Pier 3 and 4 in the Inner Harbor, as well as the Animal Care and Rescue Facility.
The ASHRAE Level I audit provided a assessment of energy usage and identified opportunities for energy efficiency and decarbonization. Lorax’s recommendations included strategies to electrify building systems, reduce energy consumption, transition to renewable energy sources, and electrify building systems. The CSNA Benchmarking is critical for tracking progress toward the Aquarium’s 2035 net-zero goal and ensuring alignment Maryland’s CSNA. This initiative aligns with the Aquarium’s ambitious goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2035, a target that complements Maryland’s Climate Solutions Now Act (CSNA) mandate for net-zero emissions by 2040.
