Job Summary:
We are seeking a full-time mechanical or electrical designer or engineer to join our Energy Services department in Baltimore, Maryland. The division supports building energy modeling, energy audits, decarbonization studies, and on-site building energy performance testing.
Job Scope:
This is a Full-Time position.
This position will serve as part of the working group focused on on-site building energy audits and decarbonization plans. The position will entail a mixture of site investigation and in-office analysis, including development of strategies to help building owners navigate new and upcoming climate-related legislation governing building energy performance.
What you’ll do:
- Perform typical electrical calculations including but not limited to voltage drop, lighting power, main service sizing, and reductions in energy consumption due to suggested energy conservation measures.
- Perform typical mechanical calculations including but not limited to HVAC equipment sizing, plumbing equipment sizing, and reductions in energy consumption due to suggested energy conservation measures.
- Perform rough order of magnitude cost estimates for suggested energy conservation measures.
- Travel to client project sites for field inspection of as-installed conditions and existing MEP equipment.
- Write reports and feasibility studies as part of the process of a building energy audit.
- Analyze architectural wall assemblies and glazing types in relation to both thermal and moisture performance.
- Calculate estimated power generation from site-based renewable energy systems (solar, wind).
- Provide relevant suggestions and solutions to fossil fuel-based MEP systems for building decarbonization.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years of mechanical or electrical engineering design experience in the commercial building and construction industry.
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university or additional on-site commercial building work experience.
- Experience developing construction drawings, specifications, and equipment selections.
- Working knowledge of technical Codes and Standards: ASHRAE, IECC, NEC, etc.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
- Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
- Knowledge of the methods of engineering analysis.
- Ability to review the work of engineering personnel.
- Ability to write technical reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing.

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Baltimore, MD 21202 with flexible work accommodations. This position will require you to work in the office up to 3 days per week.
