Camden Yards Sports Complex is part of a master site plan divided into two campuses, Orioles Park (the stadium) and the Warehouse. The Warehouse, in partnership with the Maryland Stadium Authority (MSA), has earned a LEED Silver level certification under the Existing Buildings, Operations and Maintenance (EB+OM) rating system.
Much like the stadium, the warehouse tackled many of the same sustainability goals. They initiated a high performance green cleaning program, focusing on sustainable cleaning products and materials. 71% of the cleaning products purchased are certified sustainable, and 83% of the janitorial equipment used on the grounds meets the required sustainability criteria. They also participated in a waste stream audit and implemented a solid waste management policy. All waste generated was tracked and weighed in order to identify target areas of concern where waste was not being diverted from a landfill. A policy was then implemented and shared with building occupants and janitorial staff that provided clear procedures for managing waste.
The warehouse has also committed to reducing their energy loads and greenhouse gas emissions. Through the Energy Star Portfolio Manager, the warehouse can easily track their energy consumption and their associated GHG emissions. Doing this allowed them to better understand their energy usage and implement changes to help them reduce their emissions. Energy efficient measures included installing occupancy sensors in the offices, LED lamps throughout the building, and updates to certain mechanical system elements.
