Green is the New Gold!

People are cheering! Awards are being handed out! The crowd is on their feet! The Olympics have long since passed, but Lorax is celebrating a different victory. Maryland has ranked 5th on the Top 10 States for LEED List!

This January USGBC published their annual list celebrating states taking big steps in the green building industry. Since 2010 USGBC has used the metric of certified gross square footage per capita to compare green building markets around the country.

Maryland achieved a spot in the top five by certifying 2.75 gross square feet per resident, up from 2.33 in 2016. Mahesh Ramanujam, President and CEO of USGBC says

“These states showcase exceptional leadership and by using LEED, businesses, property owners and policy makers in these states are strategically addressing some of the most critical social and environmental concerns of our time.”

Lorax is happy to have contributed seven certified buildings to the total of 105 certified buildings in Maryland in 2017. Check out some of the projects that we completed this year!
